As you are probably aware, the demand for telephone numbers (for use with faxes, mobiles, ISDN, switchboards, freephone, information services and PC use) has never been greater. To keep pace with the growth, a major restructuring of  codes and existing numbers is necessary...

1st June 1999  Parallel running begins for National Numbers only
22nd April 2000         Old Local Numbers will only work will old National Codes
August-October 2000            Phased withdrawal of old codes and numbers.
